Michele brings over 25 years of research and consulting experience between Italy and Canada in various industries and sectors. After earning his Ph.D. in Comparative Social Research (University of Turin, Italy) and publishing his book on the experiences of asylum seekers and the Italian and European refugee systems, Michele arrived in Canada in 2013 and continued to work on immigration and resettlement topics. When at the International Migration Research Centre (Wilfrid Laurier University), he worked on promoting and protecting migrant women’s rights in Mexico, Moldova and The Philippines. At Ryerson University (Department of Criminology), Michele focused on undocumented migrants and sanctuary cities. More recently, while at Western University (Department of Psychology), he worked and published on higher education, microcredentials, and international students’ paths; up-skilling and re-skilling strategies for newcomers and domestic workers; and experiential learning models within town-gown relations.

Michele’s seminal work on intercultural relations, mental health, equity, diversity and inclusion, and power and privileges supports the development of research, training, and policy-related actions in many institutions and organizations across Canada.

Michele is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at Western University, co-founder of the Project Global Impact Initiative (USA) to accelerate a healthier world and an Inner Development Goals co-creator within the UN Sustainable Development Goals framework.
