SFU students move to an online educational program, with additional resources on adapting to remote work.
I have been with SFU's coop program for 20 years overseeing the Faculty of Applied Sciences Coop programs (Engineering, Computer Science, Interactive Art and Technology, Sustainable Energy Engineering & Software Systems)
Simon Fraser University's Co-operative Education Program (SFU Co-op) has been operating for over 40 years and is the first of its kind in Western Canada. SFU was the first university to offer an online community for co-op student stories and educational content. SFU Co-op's mandate is not only to provide students with work-integrated learning opportunities, but to help their 16,500+ employers across the globe recruit talent. Since March 2020, WIL at SFU has moved its educational programs online while supporting its students in adapting to remote/online working environments. This includes introducing new curriculum on how to thrive and add value while working remotely with less mentoring and supervision when on site.
