This addition expands BHER’s representation in the Prairies and supports Bow Valley College’s ongoing priorities in workforce development, skills gap solutions, and international student integration in Alberta.
President & CEO Dr. Misheck Mwaba comments: “Being a part of BHER has connected Bow Valley College with leaders and organizations across the country who are highly dedicated to developing Canada’s workforce of tomorrow and ensuring work-integrated learning and digital transformation are at the heart of education and learning.”

Bow Valley’s work aligns with BHER’s in multiple ways, including our WIL initiative for equity-deserving and international students, our innovative WIL partnerships, and our recent and ongoing member conversations about AI adoption and digital transformation – especially when it comes to integrating AI skills training into post-secondary teaching.
Other examples of Bow Valley College’s innovative work in emerging areas include:
- a new Digital Entertainment Nexus, funded by the Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund, which brings together VFX, eSports management, and game development;
- programs like Competency-Based Canadian Nurse Bridging, recently awarded a $9.4 million grant through the Foreign Credential Recognition program, which allow newcomers to target skills development in areas where gaps exist; and
- innovative approaches to workforce training that include micro-credentialing and assessment-first and competency-based credentialing.
Bow Valley College shares BHER’s commitment to increasing equitable access to the job market and helping to train the next generation of workers in innovative ways. Bow Valley College is a welcome addition to BHER’s presence in Alberta, joining NAIT, SAIT, University of Calgary, and PCL Construction.
