York University's mission is the pursuit, preservation and dissemination of knowledge. York University promises excellence in research and teaching in pure, applied and professional fields. They test the boundaries and structures of knowledge and cultivate critical intellect.
Through a renewed partnership with BHER, York University is supporting the York Capstone Network to further develop the “Project Commons,” a pan-university hub connecting faculty and students to real-world industry projects directly linked with a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Project Commons offers a space where students and professors alike can meet an industry partner and find an inspiring challenge to work on together, in a student-led manner. It is an open source lending library of engaged projects that is rendering Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) more sustainable, scalable, and impactful at York University.
BHER is supporting Project Commons to transition from a grassroots resource into a sustainable infrastructure for WIL across the university, while also deepening strategic alignment between BIPOC students and the transition to a net zero economy. BHER’s support will allow the York Capstone Network to deepen the focus on net zero economy-related projects, as well as engagement with diverse students.
