Baking apprentice finishes apprenticeship and takes over business to realize her dream.
We supervised many baking apprentices when I owned my own bakery who we taught, supervised and hired. Baking is very hands on so the work integrated learning is essential. V came to us as a new baker and we taught her many hands on skills and she practiced them under our supervision. Being part of her training helped us to shape her development and continue her passion for baking as well as our business, and also taught her the skills she needed to become a red seal baker. After her apprenticeship was complete, we were looking for an exit strategy from our business after 20 years and she showed the strongest potential for being able to run our bakery. We ended up mentoring her into taking over our business which she was able to do at a young age. She has been successful and we have been able to see our business continue to thrive. She has been able to realize her dream, and so have we.
